The History of Hesed Dorot.

Cherkassy Jewish Charitable Fund "Hesed Dorot" was founded at the beginning of 1998 by two organizations - Jewish community of Cherkassy and Association of small cities of Ukraine. Before formation of Hesed, a charitable Jewish fund "Charity Magen Avot", operated under the majority of Associations of Jewish organizations and communities of Ukraine worked in Cherkassy. Whole charitable activity was held only by volunteers.

Hesed Dorot of Cherkassy was initiated by the American Jewish Joint Distributing Committee. Inc (JDC). New charitable organization was created in relatively small time. This organization has expanded existed programs and created new programs of social protection of Jews in need. Activity of organization spread across whole Cherkassy region and part of Kiev region.

At the end of 1998 Statute of Fund was re-registered. JDC (Kiev representative office) was included to the staff of founders.

With the beginning of 1999 Hesed carries its activity only in Cherkassy region in 31 localities.
