Indoor of Hesed charitable canteen was celebrated of Rosh-ha-Shana - Jewish New Year! Ward persons, volunteers and workers of the Hesed were presented on this holiday. In the network of New Year ceremony were pronounced prayers, and sounded Shofar. Musical collectives of Cherkassy Jewish organizations congratulated all persons who were presented on this holiday by their performances.

Renewed seven meals a day for our ward persons, who get dinners in charitable canteens of our Hesed. In spite of it every client of charitable canteen will get loaf of bread and liter of milk, and liter of kefir one time per two weeks.

Took place the 2nd part of seminar for workers of Cherkassy Hesed Dorot. Main themes of it were forming of teamwork attainments of Hesed workers; main point of social work, role and place of social worker.
Kiev institute of social and community workers founded program of this seminar. Seminar was hold by director of this institute Sofia Kremer, lecturers: psychologist of institute - Marina Smulson and teacher of Kiev-Mogilyanska academy Tatyana Semigina.

The delegation of our friends from the United Jewish Federation of MetroWest (New Jersey, USA) had arrived for a regular visit to Cherkassy.
They visited wards of the Hesed in Cherkassy and region, made unveiling of a Day center, visited charitable canteen. As assistance for very needy persons and for support of Jewish Sunday school the delegation brought large quantity of necessary medicines and school supplies. Also they visited Jewish kindergarten.
The delegation visited Jewish Sunday School where took active part in lessons, Jewish exhibition in a Cherkassy Region Museum, city hospital.
As a good old tradition in solemn occasion for Cherkassy Jewish children our friends made Bnai Mitzvot ceremony.

In a charitable canteen of the Hesed was celebrated one of the famous Jewish holidays - Passover. Many persons of different ages presented on this holiday. Passover was hold with assistance of representatives from Youth Jewish organization "Hilel" who came from Kiev and Switzerland.

In the city drama theatre was hold Purim holiday, were presented more than 500 persons - Hesed's under wardship persons and members of Jewish community. Because of this holiday, due to volunteers of theatre hobby group was shown performance - "Purimshpil". Performances of city community creative collectives were successful improved into "Purimshpil".
Everybody who presented on this holiday got 2 Gumentashen.

The program "Moked Lakashish" was enlarged. New service is provided for under wardship persons, who live in houses without conveniences. Now they can wash in a bath-house.

Because of opening new building of the Cherkassy "Hesed Dorot" it was possible to improve new program - "Day center". It is social program which working with elderly under wardship persons, who need getting professional services and cultural leisure, which can't be got at home. The aim of this program is giving assistance for elderly people in crisis or stress, who need rehabilitation.

The construction of the new Jewish house - building of the Cherkassy region charitable fund "Hesed Dorot" was finished. In the 8th of October we made grand opening where took part representatives of Jerusalem, Kiev and Odessa departments of Joint, our colleagues from other heseds of Central and West regions of Ukraine, representatives of Kiev Institute Community and Welfare Workers, mayor of Cherkassy and other representatives of city administration. At the end of this action creative collectives of community and "Hesed" appeared on stage for our guests..

In Cherkassy regional drama theatre we made celebration of Simhat Tora. The blessings were told and we danced akafots. Creative collectives of Cherkassy Jewish community and "Hesed Dorot" came to congratulate all Jews by their acts.

Cherkassy charitable fund "Hesed Dorot" organized celebration of the New 5762 Year for their wards. This celebration was divided into 4 part. Due to this dividing main part of our under wardship persons got ability to take part in this holiday. The blessings were told. All presents stood in memory of that people, who were killed in terrorist actions in America.

01.06.2001 The program "Special assistance" paid for the operation for heart disease of one-year-old Jewish child Pavlik Kolker. Specialists of Kiev scientific research institute of cardiovascular surgery operated on him. Now, the boy who could die recently, feels better.

There was the seminar "National cuisine", which have been organized by department of migration of nationalities and religions of Cherkassy region administration. The exhibition of national Jewish dishes looked the best and more appetizing. The chairman of Jewish community D. Letichevsky and executive director of region welfare Jewish fund "hesed Dorot" S. Povolotsky represented Jewish delegation on this seminar. They told about activities Jewish community, hand over books "Culinary midrash" as presents to each delegation. .
25.04.2001-29.04.2001 Cherkassy have been visited the delegation of our friends from United Jewish Federation of MetroWest (New Jersey, USA). They visited medical center and house of the Hesed. Also the delegation visited Jewish kindergarten. Our children to appeared on stage with shot concert in honour of our guests. Mezuzas were attached to Hesed's house and in kindergarten in a friendly atmosphere. The delegation from MetroWest visited hospital, Cherkassy museum of local lore with Jewish exposition and Jewish cemetery. Also they visited representative offices in Smela and Korsun-Shevchenkovsky. For very needy ward persons the delegation gave clothes and welfare supporting, eyeglasses, medicines and vitamins.

In 28 of April due to supporting of United Jewish Federation of MetroWest (New Jersey, USA) and head rabbi of Progressive Jewish Congregations of Ukraine Alexandr Dukhovniy, in the city theatre was held ceremony Bar and Bat Mitzvah. 20 children took pert in this ceremony. At the same evening during the post-war period the first Hupah of members of our community Alexandr Belikov and Irina Medvedeva was celebrated. Everybody, who wanted to see, could to see this traditional ceremony. In 29 of April mohel from New Jersey made the Brith Milah ceremony. We express our hearty thanks to all friends from New Jersey for gifted Hupah and Aron Kodesh.

Very funny Jewish holiday Purim were holding by Cherkassy Community and "Hesed Dorot" in city drama theatre in 10th of March, 2001. The holiday was visited by more than 650 persons, who sow very interesting festival. Purimshpil were making for them and women ensemble "Neshama", choir of Heseds volunteers, children vocal and dancing ensemble "Netsanim" were appearing on stage for them too.

01.03.2001 New structural sub-unit - curator service - has made in of "Hesed Dorot". The aims of this structure are continuous searching of needy Jewish persons, showing up their needs and conducting with them; effective reacting of their requesting, helping to use all resources of programs and services of "Hesed Dorot".

10.12.2000 The first number of monthly newspaper of Cherkassy Jewish Community and "Hesed Dorot" "Together - Ineinem" were appeared. This newspaper elucidates Jewish life of our city and activities of Jewish organization.
24.11.2000-26.11.2000 The group of employees of Kiev Institute of Community Welfare Workers has held a one part of seminar "Home care" for patronage workers. The lecture under the titles "Social work in Jewish Welfare Funds", "Physiological features of senescent bodies", "Diabetes: features of nutrition and care", "Social psychological support of aged people" have lectured. Hard work in seminar successfully combined with good rest. In order to have qualitative service for our under wardship persons we must spend seminars such this.

The new social community program "Mazl Tov" was opened. After translation to English it means "Wish happiness!" The goals of this program are amalgamating young families and teaching them Jewish history and traditions, involving these families into life of Jewish City Community, and welfare for expectant mothers, unwed mothers and young families with children under three.
20.09.2000 The Hesed`s building reconstruction and completion were started. The three-storied building will be built out near existent old building. We will receive rooms with total size about 600 square meters. It will essentially allow for our programs to work efficiently and to open new programs.
01.07.2000 Hesed Dorot has been starting to work in new line. These are Community programs. For the most part Community programs oriented to Jewish persons, which were not involve in Hesed programs - young and middle ages persons. The aim of Community programs - to involve these persons into Jewish Community life, to teach them culture, traditions, history and to help them to solve their financial, social and psychological problems. These Community programs include "Warm house of children", "Educational program", "Development amateur art ", "Clubs on wheels", "Mazal Tov" (this program is going to help young family with children which are younger then 3 years)

Heseds Under wardship persons who are veterans of 2nd World War have celebrated 55th anniversary of Victory in House of Officers. During this holiday were proposing big festival concert, melodies of wartime, kleizmer orchestra, welfare dinner for veterans.
04.05.2000 - 07.05.2000 The delegation of our friends from United Jewish Federation of MetroWest (New Jersey, USA) has visited us. In the program of visit were many meetings with under wardship persons and with work collective of Hesed. They also met with representatives of other Jewish organizations of Cherkassy region. The delegation gave clothes and welfare for very needy persons and presented a computer for Hesed.

The Moked program was expanded. This program provides a telephone set repair service. Now the under wardship persons can repair their telephone set.
15.03.2000 Amateur chorus of Jewish music-lovers "Degelibte negunim" (Loved melody) started to work in February 7th. Members of this chorus are Heseds Under wardship persons. In the repertory of chorus are national songs in Yiddish and in Hebrew, Russian and Ukrainian songs. Performances of this chorus spends successfully both for Heseds Under wardship persons and in meetings of foreign delegations from America and Israel and in others actions.

23.01.2000 In order to rise the professional level of social and community worker in Cherkassy region the Kiev Institute of Community and Socials Workers has organized a cycle of the learning seminar in 1999-2000. The last seminar which has taken place on the 23 of January 2000 has ended the cycle of 2 years learning seminars. Our patronage workers got valuable knowledge which they will use in there every day worker. These are psychological aspect, the work of the program "Home attend" methods of work with elderly, stress and it curing , what he social work means and its social aspect and others. The members of the last seminar expressed their meaning that they had got enough knowledge and useful experience..

30.11.99 In Hesed it was set up a fund on special needs and extremely from the means sponsored by Leon Strogovich through the meditation of JDC. From now on the underwardships can get the urgent help in extremely . The first 6 underwardships got such help on the total sum $ 795.

Within the framework of the program "Club" was organized a trip of volunteers, invalids, members of clubs to tourist camp "Kedina Gora", which situated on the left bank of the river Dnieper. An interesting program with campfires, improvised concertos and conversations about Jewish holidays was held. 130 persons already have rest in this camp.
